Survivor Story of the Month: Interview With Brian Long

Question: When did you acquire your brain injury?

Answer: Over 25 years ago from an automobile accident.

 

Question: What were some of your initial obstacles?

Answer: Developed a large limp and hard to walk (Left Leg/Extreme memory loss).

 

Question: What were the things or people who motivated you?

Answer: Mom was a great motivation. My sister Maureen as well. Kevin, my brother allowed me to stay with him for a long time.

 

Question: How has P.G. helped?

Answer: Get out in the community, meet new people, make new friends. Get involved in a lot of activities with the senior center and lots of sports, exercise and other activities.

 

Question: What words of advice would you like to give to encourage someone who has just acquired a brain injury?

Answer: Keep trying to improve and don’t stop trying to reach your goals!

DIY BAKERY CAKE WITH CAKE MIX

Make do with what you have!

INGREDIENTS

Cake Mix
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Melted Butter (room temp)
5 Eggs
1 Box of Vanilla Pudding Mix
Icing Buttercream Frosting
Vanilla Extract

DIRECTIONS
1. Follow directions on the cake box except for replacing the milk with the water, the oil for the melted butter, using 5 eggs and adding a box of vanilla pudding mix.

2. Pour cake mix into bowl. Add pudding cake mix, eggs, milk and melted butter.

3. Blend ingredients together.

4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

5. Bake for 25 – 29 minutes. Do not undercook, the cake is very rich!

6. Remove from oven and let cool.

7. Once cool, add icing mixture of buttercream frosting and vanilla extract.

8. Bon appetite and enjoy!
